Planet Bike Blaze 2W

May 4, 2010

Last year we had the chance to show off Planet Bike's Blaze 1W. It proved to be a great light for city streets, but when we took it to the trails it just couldn't light up the whole trail. Now with Planet Bike's Blaze 2W we have a much brighter light that brightens city streets and does a pretty nice job on the trails as well.

Straight out of the box the Blaze 2W was a quick install. With the QuickCamTM bracket the light mounted in seconds and required no tools. This gives the option of removing the light or removing the light and bracket all with in seconds. A nice option for those who live in high crime areas or who want to switch the light between different bikes.

The light itself is now in a nice shiny black shell that looks a little nicer than the Blaze 1W in white. The Blaze 2W has 3 modes flashing, low and high. The flashing is pretty intense and gets noticed while riding on city streets. I would best describe it as a strobe light on your handlebars. Low mode is pretty average and I find that I skip this option on most lights. When the time comes to go to high it really is noticable. It makes the light bright enough to shine a good path of light on the street and if you are trail riding it gives some pretty good vision.

The Blaze 2W runs on 2 AA batteries that are included and has a pretty decent battery life of 5/12/18 hours depending on the mode you chose.

The Blaze 2W is a great light that comes in at a great price. It is not one of these cheap $10 lights, but it does not act like one either. Get the Blaze 2W and be seen.
