Reverse Gear Moonah Pants
June 1, 2009
The Reveree Gear Moonah pant has features that not only a recumbent cyclist but any cyclist would love. These weather resistant pants are designed to keep you warm in cooler and cold weather, and they do just that. With Dry Tech and great moisture wicking properties the Moonah will keep you comfortable on the bike longer.
For most of the riding I did with these pants I wore shorts over top, mainly beacuse I am not a big fan of how I look in them, they are pants, but essentially they are made of tights material. Once I got over the look I went for multiple ride to test them out and they performed well everytime. I rode with them when there was still snow on the ground all the way up to the first tulips peaking out of the ground and found myself to be comfortable the whole time.
The Reverse Gear Moonah pant has zips at the ankles which are great for getting overtop of shoes if you do not feel like taking them off. There are also zip pockets at the waist, but they are not large enough to fit my hand in, so they were not all that functional for me, it was often difficult to get small items out of the pockets. The front features a simple plastic clasp, that although looked a little on the cheap side, seemed to funtion well enough.
As I mentioned earlier the look of the pants is not my style, but also the fit was pretty bad. I did have to exchange my large for an extra large and still it was an extremely tight fit over my waist. The pants feature streachable fabric on the back waist band, so this helped me get them on, but they are tight. It might be thought that I just needed a larger size still, but the problem is that the lower legs are huge. The flap around in the wind while I am riding and my legs are not small by any means. There are some pretty big sizing issues with these pants.
So after riding a few hundred kilometers in these, I cannot say I am the biggest fan. Sure the technical materials do there part, but wether I was walking off the bike, riding a recumbent or a regular bike they never fit well at all. It is really too bad, they have the makings of an awesome pant.
