Rudy Project Zyon
February 10, 2009
Once again Rudy Project has done it. The Zyon is the 3rd pair of Rudy's I have owned and they just keep getting better. This time I went all out and tested out the Zyon with all the bells and whistles, even getting the prescription inserts made, so I can actually see.
The Zyon comes packed with features like Rudy Projects patented Ergo3Max fully adjustable nosepiece and 360 adjustable temple tips in hypoallergenic Megol. The Zyon also feature patented side shields that are great for giving full light protection and also protect from debris. The version I have also has photochromatic lenses that are also impact resistant and guarenteed for life. These are also the first sunglasses I have had where I used a Rx clip on adapter. All in all they are packed full of features.
The nice thing about these sunglasses is that they are fully adjustable. After sliding in the Rx adapter, I adjusted the nose and temple pieces and these fit like a glove. Perfect coverage and really comfortable. The Rx adapter took a little getting used to, at first I felt my eyelashes hitting it, but after a little work, it was perfect.
These proved great both on and off the bike. Aside from the usual riding I do, I also went hiking with them. The great thing about photochromatic lenses is that you never really notice they are on. They are always adjusting to the light conditions, so it never seems to dark or too bright. The one downside I found was in extreme cold the it took far too long for the photochromatic lenses to adjust. This made it very difficult to go from outside to inside light conditions. This was an extreme case though, where weather conditions were below -40 celcius.
All in all the best sunglasses I have ever owned. The quality always stands out on Rudy Project products, and there warranty is second to none. If you have the chance, get you hands on the Zyon.
