Schwalbe Durano S HS

One of the fundamental products you need to keep you and your bike rolling are the tires. Having a good set of tires that will last a long time and feel good under you bike is one of the most important parts of keeping your bike in good order. One set of tires that does this job perfectly is the Schwalbe Durano HS, in the 700x23 size. These are great quality racing tires that are designed to go the distance, and help you perform to your best in all conditions.

The Durano is Schwalbe's replacement for its recently discontinued Stelvio, which was one of Schwalbe's most popular tires. The Durano has many of the same features as the Stelvio, such as Schwalbe's RaceGuard protection belt, making it a very durable tire in all conditions, especially thanks to its Dual Compound which helps a lot with the traction on wet roads. This tire is a light-weight racing tire, because of its great rolling speed and light-weight construction, but it does not compromise at all in terms of its durability. This tire is also available in several different sizes, and wire bead or folding option, making it even more versatile.

When I first put these tires on my bike, I didn't really know much about them. I had been told that they were pretty decent race-able tires, which is what I was expecting. The first ride I took on these tires was a spring ride through the snow covered streets, followed by a long ride over a glass covered highway. During this first ride I was very impressed and thankful that I did not get any flats, and I had to no problems navigating the slippery and choppy roads. My opinion of these tires grew even more when I was riding a couple of weeks later and rode over an enitre beer bottle and crushed the glass beneath me, without getting a flat or even having to look back. I have ridden over a lot of stuff over the past couple of months since I got these tires, including glass, gravel, and many potholes and have not yet had a flat tire with them. The durability on these tires is terrific.

I have had absolutely no complaints with these tires, and after speaking to many people who have ridden these tires and researched the Schwalbe brand, the only problem I have heard about them is that they replaced the Stelvio, which was discontinued. Although many people may be sad to see the Stelvio go, I think that a ride on the Durano would quickly make them forget those tires and move on the Durano.

Schalwbe really hit the mark with the Durano HS tires, in providing a great race tire that is also durable enough to ride all the time. The qaulity and attention to detail that Schwalbe put into making the Durano is obvious, with its great features that make this tire so great. This tire is definitely a great tire for almost anyone, from a dedicated racer, to a Sunday afternoon casual cyclist.
