Spoke Punchers Bike Polo Hoody
July 9, 2009
Last year we had a chance to take a look at some of the nice hats that Spoke Punchers was making for cyclist. They were taking quality made hats and putting their nice silk screen designs on to them. They have now expanded to offer clothing, and we were able to try out the Bike Polo Hoody.
Once again they have made up a nice multi colour design that looks great weather you are a cyclist or not. The print appears to be a type of royal crest that has been adapted for polo, with two polo mallets crossing over it. Since I play polo I love the design, but to any non polo people it still looks rather nice too.
The hoody itself is made of ultra light wieght cotton, like seriously light wieght. So light that any crease or bulge on my T-shirt that I was wearing underneath was extremely obvious. One of the nice things about the thin material is that on a hot summer day you can still wear a hoody. Because of this light wieght material the hoody seemed to have a bit of a worn and stretched look, even though it was new. All these things are not really what I am looking for in new clothing, but I do have to say on a person with a different body type, who wanted to wear it fitting snug with a snug shirt underneath, I kind of imagine the looking working.
The zipper was another problem area, although it would zip and unzip it felt rough. It had the feeling that with a little washing and wearing that it may crap out at any time. This is all really too bad, because there is huge potential with this hoody. I really wanted to like it and have something I could wear out a lot.
All this being said, I think this is a good hoody for certain people, and you will know who you are. For me, well if it was printed on a different brand of hoody I would recommend it in an instant, but for now I can only give it a mediocre 3.5 out of 5.
