Graham Watson's Tour De France Travel Guide
August 17, 2009
As the Tour De France came to an end last month, I once again found myself wanting to be there. This time it was not the thought of being a road racer, but of being one of those crazy fans on the mountain stages. I wanted to chase after the riders, yelling at them as they zoomed by me. This is where Graham Watson's Tour De France Travel Guide come is. Watson gives you his insites into the Tour from his 31 years of covering it as a photographer.
Watson's book is part travel guide, history lesson, and photo book all rolled into one. He covers everything from the basics of what you will need in terms of money and documents and goes into details on the Tour's past and present routes. Hotels are gone over in detail, and I assume during the tour that reservations are needed far in advance. This travel guide will convince any one on the fence about going, that their only choice is to go and experience the real thing.
All the details are in this book, all that is needed now if to book the flight for next year. The one thing I think that really stands out about this book is that it is as much a travel guide as it is a biography of Graham Watson and his experiences with the Tour. He gives you what you need and leaves it open for you to have your own Tour De France Experience.
